Question: Married male posing as a single is saying false things about us

Dear Lounge Advice,
There is a man in our city who is saying false, negative things about my husband to the single women he sees. This man is married and has kids yet he plays himself off as a single man while my husband is always upfront with everyone he meets about our relationship and where we stand on everything. I am wondering two things... first, how do we combat this sort of negativity and second, is this a common problem in the lifestyle? I am really beginning to be turned off by the high school games that so many people seem to play on here.

Thanks for your wisdom!

Dear (Anonymous),

It's not common, but it happens. I've been through this exact thing before. Here's what I did. I tackled it head on. You need to do the same. Confront this individual and call him out on his actions. Even if he denies it, he'll probably be too scared to continue with his childish tactics now that he knows that you're aware of what he's doing. If you do nothing, he will continue to slander you. Cowards don't respond well to face to face confrontation, so the direct approach will be the best in this case.
