Question: New to this and nervous about my first party

Dear Lounge Advice,

My boyfriend and I are planning on going to a LL bar take-over party this Saturday. He has gone to parties in the past (with his ex), but this will be my very first experience 'swinging'.

I am a bit nervous because I really have no idea what to expect. I'm not quite sure how to act, dress, etc. Can you give me some insight on this? Thanks!

Dear (Anonymous),

It won't be much different than going to a regular bar or club. People will be there to dance, mix and mingle. At most, you might see some seductive girl-girl flirting on the dance floor. A night out at a nightclub is very reminiscent of a swingers' meet and greet at a bar. Instead of a bunch of singles though, you'll see couples.
The way you should act is to be yourself. If that means that you're shy at first and prefer to hang at the bar and just observe until you're more comfortable, then so be it. Do a shot or two to loosen up your nerves (just don't get drunk)
Dress as if you're attending a nightclub. A sexy and seductive dress, or a flirty top with butt-huggin' pants are good choices. If you've ever been to a strip club, think of the type of outfit you wore to that and you'll have the right idea.
Once you get there, you'll understand immediately that it's really no big deal. Don't let your mind conjure up anything more than it should. You're starting out in a great no-pressure atmosphere that you're probably going to love!
