Question: Should we just give up?

Dear Lounge Advice,

My wife is pretty hot, and thinks others should be able to see the me she knows... unfortunately, I'm a overweight and I fear that I'm holding us back from the fantasies we want for ourselves.

Even though I'm confident, sexy, funny & intelligent, that doesn't get us "in the door" when trying to meet new people who take a look at our pics and take a pass. Should we just give up and try again once I've gone on a starvation diet for 6 months?

Sincerely,

(Anonymous)

Dear (Anonymous),

No, you should keep trying. Persistance and perserverance do pay off, though it may take some time and may get frustrating.
If you feel down on yourself and truly want to have a better self-image, then do something about it. Yes, I know it's dificult, but if you really want it- do it.
For those who are basing their choices on looks alone, then it's just as well they pass so easily. You see, for the people who TRULY mean what they say in their profile and want to get to know others for who they are before anything happends, they're what you seek right now. They may be few and far between, but I promise you that they are out there.
If you're willing to stick with it, despite the inevitable frustration, you will find the gems you seek.
In the meantime, go to work on yourself if feel it's holding you back. You obviously already have the full package from what you said, so try to tie an even better ribbon on the package to spruce it up, and you'll feel better about yourself ;)
