Question: Feeling disrespected

Dear Lounge Advice,

I feel as if I am constantly being disrespected by couples. I ask to be included in the e-mails that are sent to us, But that doesn't happen. If we chat via phone, It seems these couples don't have anything to say to me but they will ramble on for hours with my wife. I understand that all anyone wants is a single female, But contacting a couple and then thinking your going to exclude the male half is disrespectful in my book. So I guess I want to know the best way to handle a situation like this, If it should arise again for us..

Dear (Anonymous),

This has nothing to do with other couples disrespecting you. This has to do with your wife disrespecting you. Have you broached this subject with her? If not you need too. If you have and this is continuing it's time to step up and exert some control. You don't have to allow this happen, you don't have to put up with it. You are as much a part of the couple as your wife is and until you start acting like it, in addition to not putting up with double standards, this situation will continue until it costs you your dignity and your marriage.

Remember communication is the key. If you aren't communicating with your wife, and your allowing this to continue, the only one you have to blame is yourself.
