Question: What is your advice on rumors about other couples?

Dear Lounge Advice,

We are regulars at a local club and have many friends in the lifestyle. Last weekend we met a nice couple and was hanging out with them most of the evening.

Another couple called us the next day, and told us some stories and some pretty nasty things about that couple we were talking to.

Should we listen to them and avoid the new couple, or just go with our own experiences?

Dear (Anonymous),

This is a very difficult question to answer since we do not know the couple involved... nor do we know the couple who called you.

No matter where you are... the Lifestyle is still a small, close knit community. That has its good points and its bad points.

It is very difficult to know everyone's motivations. The couple who called you may have had a bad experience... or maybe some other selfish reason to have said what they did.

We have always been big followers of the belief that, "If you don't have anything nice to say... don't say anything."

We live our own Lifestyle.. and not anyone elses. Unless the circumstances that they presented to you include something that is considered "dangerous" you have to go with your own gut feelings...

This is all about being open and honest with your spouse and others you are involved with. Again, not knowing the circumstances, you can either address it with the other couple... or drop it and go by your own experiences.

We also try to avoid any "drama" ... this is all supposed to be about FUN !!! Don't waste too much energy on this...
