Question: Does the lifestyle break up couples?

Dear Lounge Advice,

Does the lifestyle break up couples? I have friends who have been in the lifestyle for some years and she has meet another person who she wants to be with, is this normal?

It was a single male is this why we get such a bad rep being a SM in the lifestyle? How does a SM get away from such negative crap, when all we want to do is make friends.

Dear (Anonymous),

We think most lifestyle couples would say that being in the "lifestyle" has only strengthened their relationship.

Lifestyle couples who split up do so for a variety of different reasons that are already ongoing in their relationship in the background.
Whether they are in the lifestyle or not makes no difference.

Even if they were a "vanilla couple" the same underlying issues would still be there affecting them.

Most strong & devoted lifestyle couples are fairly "wise" to when another individual is "stressing" their relationship out or putting it in jeopardy.

It makes no difference whether it is a single male or single female involved.
