Question: Sex drive gone after 10 years of marriage ...what to do?

Dear Lounge Advice,

We are both 40 and have been married 10 years. Over the past several years my wife has lost most if not all of her sex drive, she's just not interested. This is creating a fair amount of friction between us. It seems as though she perceives it as more of an obligation.

What can you tell me?

Sincerely,

(Anonymous)

Dear (Anonymous),

If you two are still communicating well...try talking to each other about how you are both really feeling on this issue.

It sounds like there may be more issues involved than just the lack of sex.

Perhaps a little "old school" dating might help re-ignite the passion you two seem to have lost.

Try taking a "weekend getaway" to a romantic getaway.

Age could be playing a part in all of this as well.

It is entirely possible that your wife may be starting to go through the early stages of menopause. It would be wise to consult a gynocologist for a professional opinion. There may be physical, dietary or even drug suppliments such as testosterone treatments that may show positive results for her.

In addition to the above suggestions, the two of you may also want to consider consulting with a sex therapist or marriage counselor about the problems with your relationship.

Sincerely,
