Question: Discussing

Dear Lounge Advice,

My boyfriend and I met a couple who are in the lifestyle, at our first meeting we did not play but enjoyed getting to know each other some. While I enjoyed meeting them, I have reservations about future get togethers for play. The other couple play together but go and have their own adventures separately and then come home and share their stories. While I think that is fine for them, we have always been together when playing. For me that is where my enjoyment has come from.

My concern is that this couple will encourage separate adventures with us, which is something I am not interested in doing. Have you come across situations like this before and if so how did you handle it?

Dear (Anonymous),

Being direct and and upfront about this issue before you engage in playtime with the couple is the best way to handle this situation and calm your fears.

Being direct with them about your position and preferences on playing will let them both know where you two stand on the issue of "separate" playing and this way....no one gets put in an uncomfortable position over the issue.
