After the LA Times broke the story less than 48 hrs ago, coverage is now being given by Reuters, Fox News and Drudge Report amongst others. A porn actress recently tested positive for HIV, and others that she was with on the set just prior to her testing are now undergoing testing - anxiously awaiting results during the window period.
More disturbing, is that it has now been revealed, that ~ 16 other porn talents have indeed tested positive in the past several years, but these cases were not reported; these cases were not revealed until now. Furthermore, while 16 KNOWN cases were revealed, there could be dozens more; not to mention the fact that there are 15 reported cases of other STD's per week (~800/yr) amongst the adult actors.
Despite testing every 30 days, there has been shortcomings in verifying partners status, making the situation more dangerous.
So, given the fact that condoms can break/fall off, etc (or not be used at all),
1. how do we secure our community from outbreaks?
2. How many cases go unknown, like in the self-regulated porn industry?
3. What are we doing to keep safe?
4. What type of testing procedures are we implementing in our lifestyle?
5. How do we make sure that partners we engage with are not infected?
