Hot Tubs... Should they be avoided due to STD transfer issues? |

I have been invited more than once to join couples, starting in their hot tub. But I've also heard that STD's can be transmitted that way. I have a friend who SWEARS her friends got Herpes all over their arms etc. because they shared a hot tub with another gal who had an active breakout inside and never told anyone about it.
Even if the hot tub had the correct balance of chemicals, is it still a problem? What if it's an ozone-type of hot tub?
Anyone know? I hesitate to jump into any hot tub with any unknown lifestyle partners.
