Sooo... I tore my hamstring in several places from my knee up to my glute Labor Day weekend.  It was torn bad enough to need surgury, just torn in several places with a nice huge  lump right above my knee. 

Just before Thanksgiving, the doctor finally fully released me for trying whatever my leg  will allow me to accomplish at the gym .  I've done no physical therapy other than a deep tissue massage every two  weeks, my own stretching and light weight lifting at the gym and am finally able to touch my toes.  I managed a  nonstop three mile run for the first time in 3 months at a very slow 12.5 min. pace last  weekend.  Took a two day rest as the muscles behind my knee  were more sore than the hamstring.  WHen it was accomplished I thought yes  and I didn't even limp until the last half mile. However I have found myself back at the slow run for three blocks before needing to rest as the leg muscles just ache. 

It's killing me not being able to run.  Weightlifting--I can do just about any leg excerise except I've only managed to build up to 15lb  single leg hamstring curls-- and swimming are ok, but  running is what does it for me as far as stress relief.    Any suggestions? I don't want to wimp out but at the same time fear pushing it too much and re-injuring myself.
