I think for many, it is the chase more then the catch. The sexy flirting, the unknown, the sexual energy being built up. On the second date, most of that is gone and it is now familiar. We are not huge second date fans. We have done them with really awesome couples, but it really takes an attraction beyond sex. We have friends we have known for years that we still play with on occassion, but it isn't the regular thing. That is just us!
